Some things just cannot be simple. At last, a good thing has ended. Specifically, the Company has ceased to provide us with cell phone service and our two phone numbers have been released for transfer to our personal account. Oops, we didn’t have a personal account which means creation of such was necessary. At the local Verizon store that task was accomplished on Tuesday. What? Instead of my account starting with a zero balance, as one might expect, my account already had a $625 amount posted and due. It seems that regardless of the fact that my old telephone has been free-and-clear for several years, the Company assigned a new contract to my number a couple of months ago. That happened when somebody else obtained an upgrade for his or her telephone which wasn’t free-and-clear. That $625 balance followed my number and became my obligation once the account transfer happened.
After a couple of phone calls the balance issue was resolved and the $625 balance evaporated. We returned to the Verizon store two days later to complete the switch over of telephone service. The goal was to move two telephone numbers among three cell phones including a new Google Pixel telephone. That manipulation required two and a half hours to accomplish. Now, my account seems to be reflecting a proper balance-due plus our telephone service seems to be functioning.
